1st conference of SCA, 22d March 2009, New Delhi.

The Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia organized the 1st conference of "The Society of Cardiac Anesthesiology - Delhi & NCR Branch" held on 22d March 2009 at Ramalingaswamy Board Room, AIIMS. New Delhi.

Dr. Naresh Trehan and Prof. Balram Airan were the chief guests of the conference. Dr. Yatin Mehta presided over the function. Dr. Poonam Malhotra was the Organizing Secretary.

We received an overwhelming response it was attended by more than 250 delegates! The scientific programme included speakers from AIIMS and eminent cardiac anesthesiologists and cardiologists of Delhi and INDIA. There were 22 cardiac anaesthesiologist holding eminent positions of IACTA, attending the conference and interacting in its deliberations.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia. AIIMS, there was a release of a book entitled "O.T. Equipments & its care - Our responsibility" which was coauthored by the faculty of the department. The book is written in Hindi & was dedicated to the operation theatre technicians.

The conference was also the venue for starting the 1st "Dr. V.A. Punoose Young Scientist Award" for the best scientific paper was started. The first award was received by Dr. Raveen Singh, a DM Cardiac anaesthesia student from AIIMS - which was given away by Dr. T. Jayalakshmi & Mrs. Punnoose, we were honored by their presence. We thank the delegates, the honorary chairpersons, speakers and these associated with the workshop for their participation and support.
