The newly born "The society of Cardiac Anesthesiology - Delhi & NCR Branch" was formed in February 2009, thirteen years after the formation of the parent body - IACTA (Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Anaesthesiologists) to which it is affiliated. But being a branch of capital of the country its aims are high.

The IACTA association had an aim to start city and state branches to achieve academic excellence in cardiac anaesthesia. The Delhi branch SCA was conceived by Dr. Yatin Mehta and brought into action by the pioneering efforts of other anaesthesiologists at various cardiac centers of Delhi - Dr. Deepak Tempe, Dr. Rajeev Juneja, Dr. Samir Girotra and Dr. Poonam Malhotra, to name a few, that made the formation of the society possible. Professor Nita Saxena is the chief patron of the society.

Aims and objectives of the Society
The aim of the society is primarily to enhance the scientific and academic status of anaesthesiologists in our region and provide an opportunity for wider interaction amongst us. Delhi & NCR has had an exponential growth in cardiac procedures and centers over the last decade and there seems no slowdown! In this regard the creation of this society and starting an educational venture, like this is a welcome step. We hope all anaesthesiologists in Delhi & NCR will come forward and participate in its activities to their maximal best.
